Il saggio visuale (sia fotografico che video) è in grado di raccontare la realtà, così come può mentire su di essa. In questo questa sezione vi sono diversi esperimenti di saggi visuali, espressi attraverso tecnologie sia tradizionali che digitali. Se l’utilizzo della pellicola e dei media analogici non garantisce il resoconto fedele della realtà, la tecnologia digitale non è necessariamente menzognera: anche attraverso la modificazione estrema delle immagini è possibile esprimere concetti sociologici e raccontare la realtà, mettendo in luce il «nocciolo duro del reale che siamo in grado di sopportare solo se lo finzionalizziamo […] è proprio il Reale infatti che – per poter essere sopportato – dev’essere percepito come uno spettro irreale simile a un incubo» (Žižek, S., Benvenuti nel deserto del reale).  

 The visual (both photo and video) essays may tell the reality, just as easily as they may lie about it. In this section there are several experiments of visual essays, expressed through both digital and traditional technologies.  The use of film and analogical media doesn’t warrant the trustworthy telling of reality; hence digital technology doesn’t necessarily lie. Through the extreme modification of images it is possible to both express sociological ideas and then tell the reality, showing «the hard core of reality that we’re able to bear only if we make it fiction […] it is the very Reality that – in order to be borne – needs to be perceived as an unreal ghost, similar to a nightmare» (Žižek, S., Welcome to the desert of the real!).
